PARISH CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA

This church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, is the oldest of all the town because, after being given the letter to the Christian establishment, Planes was the only Christian village while still populated parishes Moors. This is a church with three naves separated by arches, with side altars in the form of chapels dedicated to different saints. It seems that the nave of the Eucharist is the oldest, dating from the fourteenth century, with the bell tower located on the feet and an entrance to the north. Later the temple was expanded from the first craft. The main gate, located on the feet and Classicism, refers to the seventeenth century, when it may be short term extension of the church. In recent restorations were discovered remains of frescoes in the vault of the nave. There are indications that the altar was also covered with frescoes disappeared after the Civil War, when he burned the wooden altarpiece presiding. It is the only church in the town which still owns an orchard near the temple, although not currently working.

SHRINE OF SAINT CHRIST

According to tradition the shrine is the fifteenth century and was reduced to the current vestry that, indeed, presents Resgen gothic and an altar facing east, and was under the patronage of San Cristoval and Santa Barbara. The change in patronage occurred in the mid eighteenth century and has since become known as the Chapel of the Holy Christ of Planes. Currently, the high altar of the chapel is situated facing west, with an entrance portico with three arches and a steeple. The interior is divided into the nave, covered with barrel vaults separated by false arches and side chapels without communication between them. Beside the temple stands the former home of hermits, and the whole architectural complex is covered by a gable roof. The most unique feature is access along the Via Crucis, zig-zag, located on the southwest slope of Mount San Cristobal on which the temple is located.

PLANES CASTLE

Planes Castle is situated on the highest part of town, to 472 m. altitude. The houses of people come to the point of the castle almost part of it. It has a polygonal enclosure perimeter of 220 meters and an internal surface of approximately 2900 m². The construction date is in the Almohad period between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, although it is not known with certainty whether inside there was a continuous settlement or just used as a shelter in case of siege. The truth is that the castle was one of schemes for those with a more complex defensive system, with an outer wall and a side entry, located in the southwest. The wall facing north is practically rebuilt with a masonry wall belonging to the Christian era reforms, due to some accidental release. It is this part where the tower stands eight largest currently available and possibly the only one that was built across the north facing. After the Christian conquest, the castle was held by various lords of the Barony. In the twentieth century was still private property until in 1992 the City Council finally bought it.

CROSS TERM

Example calls crossings term that is available to protect the crossroads because, according to popular tradition, were the places where the devil appeared. Both examples can be dated to the late sixteenth century, when the process of evangelization of the Moors became a priority for the Church authorities. And is that another of its functions was to mark the entrance to Christian people. La Cruz, next to the CV-700, is larger. It is situated on four coated steps. The cross itself is located on a pilaster decorated with a flower resembling the rose windows of Gothic churches. Presents the image of Santo Cristo to the east and the Virgin and Child in her arms towards the west. The other is smaller and has no cover. The strangest thing here is that sits on a wheel to grind wheat. Today it is still often go for a walk between the two crosses.

RAVINE MILLS SET OF FUND

The Fondo ravine is at the northeast of Planes urban core, with a cliff about 50 meters on the left. The water comes from the Font Nova and his entire hydraulic system, highlighted by the aqueduct. It is in the gorge of the ravine where there is a set of three mills known by the names of Arcadio, Source of Gold and the Mill of Arcade. The mill of Arcadio is the first to utilize the water of the gorge to rise above the other two. It was built from 1813 by Jaime Català request, resident of Planes, although its name from Arcadio Gonzalez, the last miller. The source of the Arcade is located on the right side of the Fondo ravine, completely glued to the base of a cliff at the place where the gorge opens onto a garden area, where the gorge it was called "Retilles" The name of this mill was given after an ancient aqueduct next to him, and by the source that comes across from the mill, across the gorge, an area now covered by thick and lush vegetation. It appears that stopped working during the sixteenth century until around the year 1960, Pedro el Cantoner, Planes neighbor used it for a while as a place to dye fabrics. The mill of the Source of Gold is also in the Fondo ravine right at a fairly steep slope area. Right next to the mill is the Source of Gold, where it is called, where are also a series "d'alcavons", made in past centuries with a clear intention to seek gold, of which Antonio Josef Cabanilles, in his book "Observations on the natural history, geography and population and fruits of the Kingdom of Valencia" (1797), gives us the relevant information:

It's not so steep hill on the right of the ravine, but their slopes are quite fast, where you will discover some bright pyrites, and as if it were copper veins in the interior of the rocks. The mob took them by real gold, so called fountain of gold to which there emerges

From the mill, the manor has a very limited and superficial measure, along with his downstairs neighbor, the mill of the Fountain of Arcada, are metrage lower among all the rest of the region. The latter two might be windmills that feature in the grant that James I gave to William of Loarre the year 1258, therefore are mills built before the Christian conquest, clearly showing the milling tradition of the municipality.

AQUEDUCT AND WHOLE LAUNDRY

The aqueduct is part of a network of hydraulic constructions that take water from the raft of "l'Escaleta" and the "Canyeret" to irrigate the terraces closer. The aqueduct is supported by a series of four arches almost ogival therefore might have been built between the late thirteenth and early fourteenth. Bring water to the vicinity of urban core where this flow is added to the Font Nova which, while supplies municipal water to wash. Through a against aqueduct located at the bottom of its structure and piping currently provides water to the remains of another raft. There are indications that the aqueduct could have supplied water to the castle through a system of hydraulic pumps.
